Every cable route is planned through joist voids, behind original skirting, under floorboards or around chimney breasts. Lath-and-plaster walls are fished from above and below — never broken open. We never use surface trunking on heritage work, ever.

Local conservation teams (B&NES, Mendip / Somerset Council, Bath & North East Somerset) usually sign off straightforward heritage rewires within a few weeks; complex jobs may need a heritage statement.
We fish cables down through the void between lath and stud using rods, draw cords and access via floorboards above or skirting below. New back-boxes are cut neatly with a multitool — never with a chase grinder. Where a route is impossible without damage, we route via the floor void in the room above and drop in. Surface trunking is never used on heritage work.
