Stratton-on-the-Fosse straddles the Fosse Way, with around 1,100 residents. It is known above all for Downside Abbey, whose neo-Gothic church, with a tower about 55 metres high, is Grade I, and for Downside School, which grew up alongside it.
The Anglican church of St Vigor dates from the 12th century and is also Grade I. Coal mining was once a major industry here, and all the mines have now closed. Benter House, Hill House at Nettlebridge, a former pub, and Manor Farmhouse are all listed.
Rural properties in the parish often have stables, workshops or barns on long supplies that may not have been tested in years. We include them in any EICR, and replace undersized or unprotected supplies with armoured cable on their own RCBO.
The older houses, including those that are listed, need careful routes and discreet fittings. Newer houses mostly need additions such as chargers and outside power.
Stables, tack rooms and barns are hard environments for electrics: dust, damp, animals and vermin. Fittings there need suitable IP ratings, cables need protecting from damage, and every circuit needs RCBO protection at the board. We check all of that as part of an outbuilding test.

Our Midsomer Norton pages cover each service in detail, including how we price each job. They apply equally to Stratton-on-the-Fosse.
