Why immersion heater electrics in Wells is different

Wells is England's smallest city, dominated by the cathedral and Bishop's Palace. Properties range from medieval cottages around Vicars' Close to Victorian villas in Tor Street and modern stock in Wookey Hole and Croscombe. Many bathrooms and immersion tanks are tucked into period airing cupboards with very tight access — we plan cable routes carefully and take the time it deserves.

Common questions

Do you cover BA5 villages outside Wells itself?

Yes. We regularly work in Wookey, Wookey Hole, Coxley, Croscombe, Dinder, Dulcote and the surrounding BA5 villages. Wells is 15 minutes from our Glastonbury base, so call-out is fast and there's no extra mileage charge inside the BA5 ring.

Why does my immersion heater keep tripping the RCD?

Almost always a failed immersion element — when the Incoloy element corrodes, water leaks into the heating core and goes to earth. The RCD trips because there's a real earth fault. We test insulation resistance with a Megger, confirm element failure, isolate the supply and quote a replacement element with parts and labour.

Can I run my immersion on Economy 7 to save money?

Yes if you have an Economy 7 meter and the tank has two elements (or a single element you're happy to use overnight only). We wire two FCUs — one for the off-peak bottom element on the Economy 7 circuit, one for a 'boost' top element on standard tariff. A timer switches the off-peak circuit during the cheap-rate window.
