Why Glastonbury is different

Glastonbury (BA6) is our home base — same-day or next-day attendance is normal, and we know every postcode street-by-street from BA6 8 (town centre) out to Street, Meare, Walton and West Pennard. Glastonbury stock is mixed: Victorian terraces, 1960s estates, period farmhouses and the festival/holiday-let economy.

Because we're based here, response times are the fastest in the patch and we can fold small local jobs into the same week — often the same day for emergencies.

Common questions

How quickly can you get to a Glastonbury job?

Same day for emergencies in BA6 — we're 5-15 minutes from any address in town. Standard bookings are usually within 2-3 working days. For festival-week and holiday-let work we plan ahead because the town fills up and access changes.

Can I run a garage on a long extension lead — or do I need an SWA submain?

An extension lead from the house is not a permanent installation — it's not BS 7671 compliant for a fixed garage circuit, and it's a real fire risk under load (a single 13A flex feeding a fridge, freezer, lights and tools will overheat). The compliant solution is an SWA armoured submain from the main consumer unit to a sub-board in the garage, with its own RCBO protection. It's the cost difference between £50 of flex and £850 of compliant install — but it's the right answer for safety, insurance and resale.

Do I need a separate sub-board in the garage?

If the garage has more than 2-3 circuits (lights, sockets, EV charger, motor) then yes — a 4 or 6-way sub-consumer-unit gives proper local isolation, RCBO discrimination and clear labelling. For a small detached garage with just lights and 2 sockets, a single circuit on its own RCBO at the main board is fine.
