BS 7671 18th Edition Amendment 2 (since 2022) recommends AFDDs (Arc Fault Detection Devices) on socket circuits in HMOs, care homes, and high-risk locations, not yet mandatory on all domestic, but recommended best practice. SPD (Surge Protection Device) on the incomer is now standard on all our new boards, it's the cheapest insurance against a single induced-surge event taking out every appliance in the house.
