Ask around about the cost of wiring in an EcoFlow STREAM battery and you will hear very different figures. Most of the gap comes from what is included. A spur off a socket circuit and a dedicated, notified, certified circuit are not the same job, even if both end with the battery working. This guide sets out what a proper install covers and what changes the price, so you can compare quotes like for like.

What a proper install includes
- A dedicated circuit from the consumer unit to the battery, with its own protective device.
- Isolation at the battery.
- Testing to BS 7671 and an electrical certificate.
- Part P notification through NAPIT.
- The G98 notification to the network operator (see our G98 guide).
What moves the price
The cable run
The distance from the consumer unit to where the battery sits, and the route the cable takes: along a garage wall, through floors, or outside and back in.
The consumer unit
The biggest single variable. If there is a spare way and the board is in good order, the battery goes straight on. If the board is full, or it is an older plastic board with circuits sharing one RCD, the board work is priced first, as a separate line.
Where the battery goes
Indoors next to the board is the simplest. Outside, in a garage or in an outbuilding means more cable, containment and fixings. Check EcoFlow's guidance for where your model can be sited.
G98 or G99
A standard G98 notification is part of the job. If you already have solar, or the total goes over the G98 limit, it becomes a G99 application that the network operator assesses before connection. That takes more time, and we tell you which applies before you commit.
Meters and monitoring
If your setup uses an energy meter or a current clamp at the board so the battery can see what the house is using, fitting that is part of the job.
Comparing quotes
When you compare prices, check each quote says whether it includes a dedicated circuit, isolation, the G98 notification, Part P notification and a certificate. If a quote leaves those out, it is a different job.
Common questions
How much does it cost to install an EcoFlow STREAM?
It depends on the cable run, the state of your consumer unit, where the battery goes, and whether it is a G98 notification or a G99 application. We give a fixed written quote, often from photos.
Do you supply the battery?
No. You buy the battery, we wire it in, notify it and certify it. Tell us the model when you enquire.
Will I need a new consumer unit?
Only if the board has no spare way or is not in a fit state to take a new circuit. We look at it first and price any board work separately before anything starts.
