Fire Alarm Systems Across the
South Bristol Fringe, Built to BS 5839

Every fire alarm system we install across the southern Bristol fringe meets the requirements of BS 5839-1 (commercial) or BS 5839-6 (domestic). We design the system around your building, not the other way around. Whether you need a Grade A addressable system for a Keynsham commercial property or a Grade D interlinked system for a Chew Valley rental flat, we handle design, installation, commissioning and certification.

Honest coverage note: we serve the southern Bristol fringe only — BS31 (Keynsham, Saltford), BS40 (Chew Valley) and BS39. We do not cover central Bristol (BS1–BS16). If you're on the fringe, we'll survey and quote; if you're in the city itself we're not the right fit.

BS 5839 Categories Explained

Conventional vs Addressable Systems

For smaller properties around Saltford and the Chew Valley villages, conventional fire alarm panels offer reliable zone-based detection at a lower cost. For larger commercial buildings and multi-tenanted premises in Keynsham, addressable systems pinpoint the exact detector that triggered, making evacuation management faster and reducing false alarm callouts.

Brands We Install

We supply and install panels and detectors from Gent, Hochiki, Apollo, C-TEC, Nittan and Advanced Electronics. All components are third-party certified and come with manufacturer warranty. We are not tied to a single supplier, so we specify what suits your property best.

Emergency Lighting — BS 5266

Fire alarms and emergency lighting go hand in hand. We install BS 5266-compliant maintained and non-maintained emergency lighting systems alongside fire alarm installations. This includes illuminated exit signs, bulkhead emergency lights and central battery systems for larger commercial properties across Keynsham and the fringe villages.

Fire Alarm Installations Across the South Bristol Fringe

The Chew Valley and BS39 have a steady mix of HMOs, holiday lets, village pubs, village halls and care settings that all need BS 5839 systems specified correctly. In Chew Magna, Chew Stoke, Stanton Drew, Bishop Sutton, Blagdon, Pensford, Winford and the BS39 villages of Clutton, Temple Cloud, High Littleton, Paulton, Timsbury and Farrington Gurney, we work with landlords and owners who have a legal duty under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Domestic rentals fall under BS 5839-6; commercial and multi-occupancy premises fall under BS 5839-1.

Closer to the city edge, we cover Keynsham and Saltford (BS31) landlords and commercial premises — from rental flats and HMOs to shops, offices and small industrial units needing addressable detection and annual servicing. To be clear: we serve this southern fringe only and do not work in central Bristol (BS1–BS16). Whether you need a new fire alarm system fitted or an existing system brought up to current standards, we provide a free site survey and fixed-price quotation.

Common Questions

Do you cover Bristol?

We cover the southern Bristol fringe only — Keynsham and Saltford (BS31), the Chew Valley (BS40, including Chew Magna, Chew Stoke, Stanton Drew, Bishop Sutton, Blagdon, Pensford and Winford) and BS39 (Clutton, Temple Cloud, High Littleton, Paulton, Timsbury, Farrington Gurney). We do not cover central Bristol (BS1–BS16). If your postcode is on this southern fringe we’ll happily survey and quote; if you’re in the city itself we’re not the right fit.

What's the difference between BS 5839 Grade A, L1, L2, L3, M, P1?

Commercial categories: P1 = property protection (full coverage); P2 = property protection (high-risk areas only); L1 = life safety (full coverage including all rooms); L2 = life safety (escape routes + high-risk areas); L3 = life safety (escape routes only); M = manual call points only. Domestic grades A through F per BS 5839-6 — Grade D commonly required in HMOs and rentals.

Do you service fire alarms after install?

Yes. BS 5839-1 requires 6-monthly servicing for commercial systems — we offer a service contract (covers 2 visits per year, signed test certificate, battery replacement). For BS 5839-6 domestic systems annual user-test only is required, but we recommend a yearly engineer check-over especially in landlord properties.
