Step process · same every job

No surprises.
Same workflow, every job.

Whether the job is a single socket replacement or a full three-phase rewire of a commercial unit, we run the same seven-step process. You see what is happening at every stage, you have a written quote before any work starts, and you finish with a signed BS 7671 certificate and a photo log of the work. All values are plus VAT at 20 percent.

From the first call
to a certificate in your inbox.

Every step has a clear deliverable. You always know what happens next.

01
Step 01 · Free, no commitment

Enquiry — phone, WhatsApp or web form

Call Dan on 07889 334849, message on WhatsApp, or use the web form on the contact page. Tell us roughly what you need and where the property is. We answer the phone in person where possible — if not, we return missed calls the same day.

  • No call charges, no minimum project value, no booking fee
  • Emergency callouts (no power, exposed live, fire risk) flagged immediately
  • If we are not the right fit (out of area, not our specialism) we say so on the call
02
Step 02 · Free site survey

On-site survey within Mid Somerset

For anything beyond a simple socket repair, Dan attends in person. We cover Mid Somerset within roughly a 40-minute drive of Glastonbury — Wells, Shepton Mallet, Bath, Frome, Street, Castle Cary, Bruton, Midsomer Norton and surrounding villages. The survey is free and carries no obligation.

  • Visual inspection of consumer unit, earthing, bonding, accessible cabling
  • Megger MFT multifunction tester, clamp meter and approved voltage indicator on board where useful for diagnosis
  • Spectrum analyser (Wi-Fi/RF) and inspection camera available for network or fault-finding surveys
  • Photographs taken so the quote is accurate — not a guess from a phone description
03
Step 03 · Written quote

Itemised quote in your inbox

You receive a written PDF quote within 48 hours of the survey. It is itemised with “from £X” line items, materials and labour separated where useful, and VAT at 20 percent shown clearly. Quote numbers are unique (QUO-XXX). Once you accept in writing, the price is fixed — no scope creep, no surprise add-ons.

  • Quotes are valid for 30 days; pricing held against material cost changes within that window
  • Variations only added with your written agreement and a separate variation quote
  • We reference the BS 7671 regulations, Part P scope and any insurer requirements that apply
04
Step 04 · Schedule

Booked into the calendar

Typical lead time is 2 to 6 weeks from accepted quote to start on site. Smaller jobs (consumer-unit upgrades, EV chargers, single-circuit faults) often start within 1 to 2 weeks. Full house rewires and commercial three-phase works generally need 4 to 8 weeks. You receive a confirmed start date in writing along with the materials deposit invoice on larger jobs.

  • Tenant access coordinated for landlord properties
  • DNO (Western Power) and supply isolation booked where required
  • Notifiable Part P work flagged with NAPIT in advance for fast lodging
05
Step 05 · Install

On-site, isolated, dust-sheeted

A single trusted crew on every job — we do not subcontract domestic work. Floors are dust-sheeted, work areas are taped off and circuits are isolated one at a time so the property keeps power wherever possible. All installations comply with BS 7671:2018+A2:2022 (the 18th Edition).

  • Type A RCBO protection on every notifiable circuit (mandatory for EV chargers, recommended for domestic)
  • SPD (surge protection) and AFDD (arc-fault detection) where the regulations call for it
  • Daily tidy-up, tools and offcuts cleared at the end of each working day
  • Photo log captured throughout (board interior, terminations, cable routes) for the handover pack
06
Step 06 · Test & certify

Megger MFT testing & BS 7671 certificate

Every circuit is dead-tested then live-tested with a calibrated Megger MFT 1741 multifunction tester (UKAS-traceable annual calibration). Insulation resistance at 500 V DC, earth-loop impedance, RCD trip-time at ½× and 5× IΔn, continuity and polarity. Readings are recorded against each circuit on the certificate.

  • BS 7671 EIC (Electrical Installation Certificate) for new installs
  • Minor Works Certificate for additions or alterations
  • EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) for periodic inspections
  • Part P notification lodged with Building Control via NAPIT 66245 within 30 days of completion (issued automatically — no admin from you)
07
Step 07 · Handover

Signed certificate pack & warranty terms

You receive a digital handover pack — signed BS 7671 certificate, full schedule of test results, photo log of the work, manufacturer warranty terms for accessories and protective devices, and the NAPIT-issued Part P compliance notice. We retain a full copy on file for at least 5 years (regulatory minimum) and longer in practice.

  • 12-month workmanship guarantee on all installations
  • Manufacturer warranties layered on top — typically 2 to 5 years on accessories, fuse boards, EV chargers
  • NAPIT 6-year Insurance Backed Guarantee covers Part P notifiable work if we cease trading
  • BACS payment due on receipt of final invoice (SI-numbered, VAT@20% inclusive)

Four things in your inbox
at handover.

A handover pack that satisfies landlord compliance, lender surveys, insurer audits and Building Control — with nothing missing.

Frequently asked.

If your question is not below, call Dan on 07889 334849 — we would rather have a 5-minute conversation than guess on a contact form.

What is the typical lead time from quote to install?
2 to 6 weeks for most jobs from the date you accept the quote. Smaller jobs — consumer-unit upgrades, single-circuit faults, EV chargers — often start within 1 to 2 weeks. Full house rewires and three-phase commercial works typically take 4 to 8 weeks to schedule. Emergency callouts (no power, exposed live, immediate fire risk) are dealt with same day where possible.
Do you take a deposit?
For most domestic jobs under £2,000 there is no deposit. For larger projects (rewires, fuse-boards, EV chargers, commercial works) we typically request a 25 percent materials deposit on acceptance, with the balance due on completion. All values are quoted plus VAT at 20 percent. Payment is by BACS transfer to the bank details on the invoice — no card surcharges, no payment-platform fees.
How do I pay?
Payment is by BACS transfer only. Bank details and our payment reference are printed on every quote and invoice. We do not accept card payments at the door, and we do not request payment until the work is complete and the certificate is issued (other than the materials deposit on larger jobs). Invoices are SI-numbered (continuing the established sequence) and inclusive of VAT at 20 percent.
What happens if my installation fails the EICR?
If an EICR comes back unsatisfactory (a C1 code or multiple C2 codes), you receive a separate written remedial quote itemised against each coded observation. You are not obliged to use us for the remedial works. If you do, we re-test only the affected circuits on completion, issue a Minor Works or full revised EICR, and provide updated paperwork. No remedial work is started without your written acceptance.
Is your work guaranteed?
Yes. All workmanship is guaranteed for 12 months from completion. Manufacturer warranties on accessories, EV chargers, fuse boards and cabling apply on top — typically 2 to 5 years depending on product. As a NAPIT registered contractor (NAPIT 66245), your installation is also covered by NAPIT’s Insurance Backed Guarantee for 6 years on Part P notifiable work, providing protection if we cease trading.
