DS Electrical Installations (SW) Ltd is a Mid Somerset-based electrical contractor. Real engineer answers the phone, fixed-price quotes, NAPIT certified to BS 7671. Forty-minute drive from our Glastonbury base covers Wells, Shepton Mallet, Frome, Bath, Street and all the villages in between.
We work to a forty-minute drive radius from BA6 Glastonbury. That covers the whole of Mid Somerset — Mendip Hills, the Polden ridge, the Wiltshire border villages around Frome, the south side of Bath and the BS39/BS40/BS31 fringe of south Bristol. Explore →Anyone can claim "Somerset coverage" on a Google listing. The county is huge — the western end is closer to Devon than to Mendip. We deliberately work to a forty-minute drive radius from Glastonbury because that's the only honest definition of "local" when you need an electrician at short notice. Three things follow from that.
Lias stone in Wells, Doulting stone around Shepton, Bath stone Georgian in BA1, period cottages in Frome — each region has its own quirks for chasing cable, fixing back boxes, and meeting heritage and listed-building constraints. Local knowledge saves hours on every job.
Rural Mid Somerset properties still have plenty of Wylex rewireable, MEM, MK Sentry and early Hager boards. We know the supply quirks of farms with TT earthing, the three-phase commercial supplies in the industrial estates, and the heritage cable routes in cathedral-precinct buildings.
Subcontracting firms send a different face every time. We don't. The engineer who installed your fuse board or charger is the one who returns for the warranty visit, the EICR five years later, or the upgrade in 2030. That's only possible because we work to a tight radius.
"24-hour callout" means nothing if the engineer is 90 minutes away. Inside the radius we can be on site in under an hour for genuine emergencies — power down, sparking sockets, exposed conductors. Outside the radius we'll tell you to ring someone closer.
Every job is certified. NAPIT membership 66245 covers domestic Part P notifications and commercial work. CHAS 158368 satisfies pre-qualification for commercial clients. TrustMark gives consumer protection. Inspections are carried out by a City & Guilds 2391 qualified inspector.
Fixed-price quote after a free survey. VAT shown transparently at 20%. BACS payment only — no card-machine surcharges, no Stripe processing fees baked into your bill. Companies House 13972348, VAT GB 429040905, fully insured to £2M public liability.
Yes. DS Electrical Installations (SW) Ltd is NAPIT registered (membership 66245), CHAS accredited (158368), TrustMark registered and Part P competent. All work is certified to BS 7671 18th Edition by a City & Guilds 2391 qualified inspector.
We cover a roughly 40-minute drive from our Glastonbury (BA6) base. Active service areas include Wells, Shepton Mallet, Frome, Bath, Street, Castle Cary, Bruton, Radstock, Midsomer Norton, Wedmore and the surrounding villages, plus south Bristol postcodes BS39, BS40 and BS31.
Forty minutes is the practical limit. Beyond that, emergency callouts stop being emergencies and routine jobs need to absorb travel time that pushes up the price. For work outside the radius we'd rather refer you to another NAPIT contractor than over-promise on response times.
Yes. Bath and the surrounding BA1 and BA2 villages are within our radius. We also cover the south Bristol fringe — Keynsham (BS31), Chew Magna and Chew Stoke (BS40), and Paulton/Midsomer Norton (BS39). We don't go into central Bristol BS1–BS8.
Yes. Dan Stevens — the director and the engineer — answers the phone. No call centre, no booking system, no salesperson layer. You speak to the electrician who will quote, install and certify the job.
Yes. VAT registration number GB 429040905. Every quote and invoice shows VAT at 20% as a separate line. Companies House registration 13972358 (DS Electrical Installations (SW) Ltd, registered 13972348).
No day rates, no open-ended bills, no surprises. The engineer who quotes is the engineer who works.
