TERMS & CONDITIONS

1. The Company

DS Electrical Installation SW Ltd ("we", "us", "our") is a NAPIT Approved electrical contractor operating in the South West of England.

2. Quotes & Estimates

• All quotes are valid for 30 days from the date of issue unless otherwise stated.
• Quotes are based on the information available at the time. Additional work discovered during the job may be subject to additional charges — we will always notify you before proceeding.
• A written quote constitutes an offer. Acceptance of the quote (written, verbal or by allowing us to begin work) forms a binding contract.
• Estimates (where provided) are non-binding approximations only.

3. Payment Terms

• Payment is due within 30 days of invoice date unless agreed otherwise in writing.
• We accept payment by bank transfer. Details are shown on the invoice.
• For large projects, we may require a deposit (typically 25-50%) before work begins.
• Late payments may incur interest at 8% per annum above the Bank of England base rate under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
• Ownership of any materials supplied by us remains with DS Electrical Installation SW Ltd until full payment is received.

4. Carrying Out the Work

• We will carry out all work to the standard required by the 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
• All notifiable work will be notified to the relevant Building Control Authority or registered with a Part P competent person scheme as appropriate.
• You are responsible for providing safe and suitable access to the work area.
• We will take reasonable care of your property but cannot accept liability for pre-existing faults or damage not caused by our work.
• We reserve the right to refuse or cease work where conditions are unsafe.

5. Certification

• On completion of notifiable work, we will issue an Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) or Minor Works Certificate as appropriate.
• EICR reports will be issued within 5 working days of the inspection.
• Certificates remain the property of the building/installation and should be retained by the property owner.

6. Guarantee & Warranty

• All workmanship is guaranteed for 12 months from the date of completion.
• Materials and components are covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
• Guarantees are void if the installation is modified, damaged, or interfered with by a third party.
• The guarantee does not cover fair wear and tear or damage caused by misuse.

7. Cancellation

• You may cancel a booked appointment with at least 24 hours' notice at no charge.
• Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice may incur a call-out fee.
• If materials have already been ordered specifically for your job, you may be charged for those materials.

8. Maintenance Contracts

• Maintenance contracts run on a monthly basis with a 30-day notice period to cancel.
• Prices are reviewed annually with a maximum CPI adjustment.
• Callout response times are targets, not guarantees, and are subject to workload and force majeure.

9. Liability

• Our liability to you is limited to the value of the work carried out.
• We carry £2 million public liability insurance.
• We are not liable for losses caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control (force majeure).
• Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.

10. Disputes

If you have a complaint, please contact us first at [email protected]. We aim to resolve all complaints within 14 days. If we cannot reach an agreement, disputes may be referred to NAPIT's complaints procedure or an independent arbitrator.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version will always be available on our website.
