The electrician your
drawings deserve.

DS Electrical Installations (SW) Ltd is a NAPIT-registered contractor working on high-specification residential projects across Bath and Mid Somerset. We read lighting plans properly, protect period fabric, set every plate level — and hand over certified, snag-free, on the day we said we would.

Direct line to Dan Stevens, Director. No call centre, no rotating crews.

A trade partner who protects your reputation on site.

When you put our name in front of your client, the install has to honour the design. That is the whole job. We work direct for the end-client at our own rate — you keep the design relationship, we carry the electrical risk, and nobody's drawings get value-engineered behind their back.

Architects

Markups returned on your drawings, not scribbled on plasterboard. First-fix routes agreed before the chase cutter comes out. Listed-building and period-fabric experience, with conservation-minded containment and minimal intervention as the default.

  • Drawing-led first fix & coordination
  • Heritage & listed-building wiring
  • BS 7671 certification pack at handover

Interior designers

Lighting schemes installed as designed — circuits zoned the way you grouped them, dimming that actually dims, plates set level and aligned to your joinery datums. We will sit in the sample meeting and talk finishes without rolling our eyes.

  • Lighting-design wiring & scene zoning
  • Finish-plate alignment to joinery datums
  • Philips Hue scene programming & handover demo

Luxury kitchen studios

Kitchen electrics planned off your elevations: appliance circuits sized and positioned before the cabinetry arrives, under-cabinet and pelmet lighting wired clean, isolators hidden where you want them — not where it was easiest.

  • Appliance circuit design from your elevations
  • Under-cabinet, pelmet & plinth lighting
  • Second fix timed to your install team

Six stages. One point of contact. No surprises at handover.

  1. Drawing review

We take your plans, lighting layouts and elevations and return a marked-up electrical scope with queries raised early — before they become variations.

  2. Itemised quotation

Labour, materials and certification priced as separate lines, direct to the end-client. VAT at 20%. No bunched figures, no allowances that unravel later.

  3. First fix

Routes and chases agreed against the drawings. On period properties, containment is planned to protect original fabric and keep intervention reversible where possible.

  4. Coordination

We hold position datums with your joinery, kitchen and decorating trades, and we answer the phone when the site manager calls. Photographic record kept throughout.

  5. Second fix & finish

Plates level, aligned and torque-set. Scenes programmed. Every fitting cleaned and working before we call it finished — we snag our own work before you have to.

  6. Certified handover

Full BS 7671 test results, NAPIT notification and a clear handover pack for your client — plus a walkthrough of the smart-home controls so they actually get used.

Specified well, installed better.

We deliberately keep the catalogue tight: a small set of systems we install often enough to install impeccably. If your project needs something outside this list, we will say so on day one.

Heritage & listed-building wiring

Rewires and additions in period and listed properties: sympathetic routing, lime-plaster-aware chasing, and finishes that sit comfortably in a Georgian room.

Conservation-minded

Architectural & lighting-design wiring

Installation of designed lighting schemes: zoned circuits, proper dimming, shadow-gap and cove details wired clean, scene control commissioned and demonstrated.

Drawing-led

Luxury kitchen electrics

Full kitchen electrical packages from studio elevations: dedicated appliance circuits, induction and oven supplies, lighting layers, concealed isolation.

Studio-coordinated

Smart home — Hue · Hive · Nest

We install three ecosystems and know them deeply: Philips Hue lighting, Hive heating control and Google Nest. Configured, scened and handed over working.

Three systems, mastered

EV charging

OZEV-registered installer. Every charge point protected by a Type A RCBO and installed to BS 7671. Where a grant applies, your client claims it directly — we supply the installation paperwork that supports the claim.

OZEV-registered

CCTV — Hikvision

Discreet Hikvision camera systems for private homes: positioned with the elevation in mind, cabled invisibly, recording locally, app access set up at handover.

Discreet by design

What we don't do: solar or battery storage, commercial fit-outs at scale, or anything we can't certify ourselves. A short list, kept honest.

Why specifiers keep our number.

One qualified electrician owns your project end to end. When extra hands are needed we bring vetted support under our supervision — your client still deals with one name, one standard, one certificate.

Communication
Direct mobile to the director. Site queries answered same day. Progress photos sent without being chased.
Finish quality
Plates set level with a torque screwdriver and a spirit level, not by eye. Cable management you'd be happy to photograph.
Clean sites
Dust sheets down, chases vacuumed, waste off site daily. We leave decorating-ready surfaces, not a second job for your client.
Paperwork
BS 7671 electrical installation certificates, NAPIT notification, Part P compliance — issued at handover, not weeks later.

Forty minutes, no further.

We keep a deliberately tight radius so we can be on site when we say we will. Bath and the surrounding villages, down through Mid Somerset — Wells, Shepton Mallet, Frome, Bruton, Castle Cary, Midsomer Norton — and the Chew Valley corner of Bristol (BS39, BS40, BS31).
